Work as the deputy to the (C)EM on a wide range of design projects, applying Systems Engineering techniques and the Amey Engineering Management Manual to define, integrate, and deliver quality engineering solutions.
Manage the allocation of project requirements, ensuring each has a discipline owner, and maintaining the compliance matrix (V&V).
Coordinate and support verification and validation activities by the discipline design leads.
Prepare and review action logs, project programmes, and ensure cross-discipline interface are identified and managed.
Support (C)EMs and PMs using appropriate systems engineering processes and engineering management within the End-to-End Stage Gate process.
Facilitate impact assessments for project changes and support the (C)EM in managing the IDC process through to closure.
Collaborate with Technical Directors, Practice Leads and Team Leaders to drive technical excellence and continuous improvement on multi-disciplinary projects.
Requirements
Developed experience and expertise in the application of systems engineering processes, probably gained in an engineer role or equivalent within Rail sector.
Demonstrable experience in the application and delivery of requirements management and V&V within major multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects.
Proven track record in the delivery of rail engineering designs in a specific discipline with an innovative approach to solving client problems.
Experience in understanding, interpreting and communicating the technical requirements of our contracts and, in particular, specifications and appropriate standards.
Experience of working on multi-disciplinary rail projects.
Knowledge across several railway disciplines or reasonable experience in at least one specific discipline.
Professional registration at Incorporated or Chartered Engineer level.
Strong knowledge of design processes and procedures.
Thorough understanding of CDM regulations and the principles of ‘Safe by Design’, combined with strong knowledge of system safety and the application of the CSM-REA.
A solid grasp of engineering management practices for delivering multi-disciplinary railway infrastructure projects.
Working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels and maintaining a client-focused approach to service delivery.
Excellent communication skills, effectively engage with clients, suppliers, developers, and consultants, while demonstrating strong teamwork and a commitment to meeting strict deadlines.
