Design, build, and maintain Wealthsimple’s credit and lending compliance program, including policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Develop and execute a regulatory monitoring and testing program for all lending products.
Lead control validation engagements end-to-end: scoping, testing methodology, execution, reporting, and remediation tracking.
Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting to relevant authorities, including federal consumer protection regulators, provincial regulators, credit reporting agencies, and industry self-regulatory organizations.
Partner with Product, Risk, and Operations to embed compliance by design into new lending product launches.
Ensure adherence to fair lending requirements, adverse action processes, hardship relief, and collections practices.
Stay current on changes to Canadian lending and consumer protection legislation, credit disclosure requirements, and industry rules.
Support regulatory exams, external audits, and manage remediation plans to completion.
Build strong internal relationships to create an integrated compliance risk framework across Wealthsimple.
Requirements
7+ years of regulatory or compliance experience in a heavily regulated environment (financial services, regulator, or government).
Deep knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial consumer lending laws, including cost of borrowing, disclosure, and consumer protection requirements.
Strong understanding of consumer credit rules, credit reporting obligations, and industry standards for credit products.
Familiarity with risk management and governance principles, with experience designing and testing controls.
Strong analytical, investigative, and research skills (e.g., interpreting legislation and regulatory guidance).
Experience working with regulators (e.g., consumer protection regulators, financial conduct regulators, self-regulatory organizations).
Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to distill complex requirements into clear, practical processes.
Ability to lead projects independently, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive initiatives to completion.
Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
