Manage and support litigation cases and pre-litigation matters, including property and casualty, property damage, auto and transportation and commercial liability cases.
Assist with document production and witness preparation for depositions and trials and support paralegal responsible for subpoena function.
Monitor litigation and pre-litigation matters, prepare periodic status updates, internal reports, and strategic recommendations.
Draft effective legal memoranda and litigation related documents such as settlement agreements and releases, discovery and production related documents, and responses to complaints.
Stay updated on relevant developments and changes in insurance law, litigation trends and industry regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar admission in at least one U.S. state
3+ years of litigation experience (law firm or in-house or a combination) handling pre-litigation and litigation insurance defense matters, in property and casualty, auto and transportation and/or commercial liability.
Employment litigation experience a strong plus.
Proficiency in the subject matter—insurance law and the regulatory framework governing the Property & Casualty, Auto, and Commercial insurance sectors.
Exceptional litigation skills, including experience with witness preparation, depositions, discovery procedures, and non-party requests for production and testimony.
Strong understanding of insurance policies and coverage issues, third party administrator roles and responsibilities, and claims handling processes.
Skilled at negotiating with experience handling settlement discussions and resolving disputes favorably for the company and its clients.
