About this role
Role Overview
Provides follow-up and supportive services to victims and survivors in the community
Completes follow-up duties with all residents of Safe Passages for at least six months once they have exited the shelter
Initiates follow-up call to the victim within 24 to 48 hours of the incident and verify the victim's safety and conduct safety planning
Primarily telephone domestic violence hotline counselor during business hours
Provides direction and support to Hotline Specialists for homeless and domestic violence callers
Helps to train CCSI staff, interns and volunteers on homeless and domestic violence callers
Tracks and submits follow-up information to the Shelter Manager at least monthly
Designs a series of educational events for domestic violence survivors, domestic violence prevention and safety planning
Represents the agency for outreach events in coordination with the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator
Acknowledges receipt of the Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Non-Profit Sector and maintains policies, procedures and standards required for agency accreditations
Communicates problems to supervisors when necessary
Maintains confidentiality
Attends in-services and meetings as scheduled
Contact supervisors in case of emergency
Maintains workstations
Performs other duties as requested that are not specifically listed but are consistent with the position and skills of the incumbent and necessary for the efficient and effective operation of CCSI.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree preferred
2-3 years experience with housing and homeless service populations and services
Must listen and communicate well
Be non-judgmental
Have self-initiative and work well as a team member
Must speak, read and write Spanish and English proficiently
Successful completion of Initial Crisis Intervention Training
