Responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and overall administration of plant operations overseeing staffing and production
Effectively oversee the development and direction of the production team to drive the growth of production, revenue, and the quality of goods produced in the facility
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, department managers and ensure the integration of strategic plans within the plant facilities
Lead and monitor plant performance with daily reporting against goals
Hold daily production meetings and meet regularly with department heads/business unit leaders
Facilitate resolution of issues/problems between business units and/or departments
Responsible for appropriate shift configurations, labor allocation, and staffing levels to meet production targets
Recruit and hire staff; handle terminations and performance management
Responsible for plant and facility operations such as security, access control, fire prevention and protection
Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve performance
Promote and enforce a culture of safety and well-being for all employees
Accountable to work with EH&S Specialist to ensure OH&S compliance across all functions of the plant
Lead and participate in Zero Harm Culture program and initiatives
Analyze and report on the plant’s daily, monthly, and annual key performance indicators
Implement strategies around improving the financial performance of the department
Collaborate and participate on execution of production schedule and resolve any obstacles to on-time delivery
Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures with a high level of professionalism.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
Requirements
5+ years’ previous management experience in a construction, engineering, or manufacturing environment with proven leadership abilities
Journeyman Welding Certificate
Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on plant and business processes
Ability to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles
Possess a clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, procedures, and other operational issues faced by the organization
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
Critical thinking skills
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
A sense of teamwork and community
Experience in managing third-party service providers
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of local and federal regulations including AOHS and Employment Standards Code
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
Strong customer service orientation.
University degree or diploma in related field preferred
Pressure Ticket considered an asset
Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing
