About this role
Role Overview
Analyze existing RPG programs and AS/400 (IBM i) application logic to understand business processes and technical dependencies.
Design and implement equivalent solutions using Node.js, ensuring parity in functionality and performance.
Collaborate with architects to define and present migration strategies, coding standards, and best practices.
Support the refactoring of RPG code into modular, scalable, and API-driven architectures.
Assist in developing tools, scripts, or automation to streamline migration and testing.
Provide documentation, technical guidance, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during migration and post-migration phases.
Work independently and take ownership of assigned deliverables throughout the migration lifecycle.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in RPG (ILE, Free-form, or legacy) development on IBM i / AS400 platforms.
Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, Express.js, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
Proven experience in modernization or migration projects, preferably RPG to open-source or cloud-native technologies.
Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and database integration (SQL).
Experience in RPG to Node.js migration tools would be an advantage.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a cross-functional, global environment.
