About this role
Role Overview
Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and monthly financial statements
Ensure compliance with local GAAP as well as Bulgarian accounting, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
Handle more complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition, cut-off, and provisions
Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and supporting schedules
Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies, and actively support audit processes
Take ownership of balance sheet integrity, including reviewing reconciliations and resolving discrepancies proactively
Establish and improve internal controls and accounting processes to support a scalable finance function
Supervise and support junior accountants in their day-to-day work, providing guidance, review, and ongoing coaching
Assist the team in resolving complex vendor and customer enquiries and support cross-functional finance-related topics
Contribute to the development of a structured, high-performing accounting team, with a view to future leadership responsibilities
Identify and implement process improvements, standardize workflows, and support enhancements in systems and reporting tools
Perform cash flow analysis and support short
and medium-term cash flow forecasting
Support the Finance Director with ad hoc analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities
Provide financial insights and support business decision-making where needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5-8 years of accounting experience
Strong experience in financial accounting and reporting
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
Strong experience with Bulgarian accounting standards and tax legislation (essential)
Experience with hotel, restaurant, or inventory accounting is a plus
Familiarity with accounting software is a plus
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good level of English (written and spoken) is essential, as the role involves regular interaction with international stakeholders.
