Advise students in specific assigned majors and may provide additional support to other students as appropriate.
Assist students in understanding and navigating university policies and procedures, program and degree requirements, and related academic matters.
Make referrals to various university offices that enhance the student experience, including academic, career, financial, and psychological resources.
Participate in orientation and recruitment activities to support undergraduate program engagement and enrollment.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
0-2 years of relevant experience in academic advising, student services, or a related field.
Foundational relational skills, including active listening, interviewing/questioning techniques, and effective interpersonal communication.
Basic knowledge and application of university and unit advising policies, such as drop deadlines, override requirements, petition processes, faculty rules, and registrar procedures.
Understanding and adherence to FERPA guidelines and confidentiality standards.
Knowledge of general education requirements and related learning outcomes.
