Identifies pertinent facts to assign the most comprehensive diagnosis and procedure codes
Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes
Communicates with physicians to assure documentation supports services performed
Assists other coders and IBC staff with medical terminology and policy interpretation
Codes reports for IBC staff to be sent to various payers for reimbursement
Assists with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements
Requirements
Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials)
Preferred: Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in related field
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
Communication, Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology
