Own end-to-end program management for Care Lumen's AI initiatives spanning AI feature integration into existing products and the development of standalone AI-powered solutions from discovery and planning through deployment and post-launch iteration
Drive cross-functional alignment across product management, ML engineering, data science, software engineering, clinical operations, legal/compliance, business partners, and customer success teams, ensuring everyone is working toward the same outcomes with clear accountability
Develop and maintain AI program plans that account for the unique delivery dynamics of AI development including data acquisition and readiness, model training and evaluation cycles, A/B testing, and staged rollout strategies
Identify and actively manage risks specific to AI programs: data quality issues, model performance gaps, regulatory and compliance considerations (including HIPAA, AI governance, and clinical validation requirements), and integration complexity
Establish and maintain AI program governance: decision logs, project plans, risk registers, change management documentation, and stakeholder reporting that keeps leadership informed and compliant
Partner with product and ML/data engineering teams to assess data infrastructure readiness for AI workloads surfacing gaps early and driving resolution before they become delivery blockers
Coordinate responsible AI practices across programs, ensuring that bias evaluation, explainability, and clinical/ethical review are built into delivery processes not bolted on at the end
Build out AI program management frameworks, playbooks, and best practices that can scale as Care Lumen's AI portfolio grows
Act as a strategic thought partner to product and engineering leadership on prioritization, sequencing, and resourcing of AI initiatives across the org
Requirements
5–10 years of experience in a Technical Program Manager or equivalent role, with at least 3 years directly managing AI, ML, or data science programs from initiation through production deployment
Hands-on familiarity with the AI/ML development lifecycle including data preparation, model training and evaluation, experimentation frameworks, deployment pipelines, and monitoring sufficient to identify risks, ask the right questions, and keep teams unblocked
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-team programs where no single team owns the full outcome driving alignment and accountability across engineering, data science, product, and business stakeholders
Experience navigating the unique delivery challenges of AI programs: non-deterministic timelines, model iteration cycles, data dependencies, and the gap between prototype performance and production readiness
Strong command of program management fundamentals: dependency management, risk tracking, milestone planning, and executive-level status reporting
Excellent communicator that can distill technical complexity into crisp, credible narratives for both product teams, engineering teams and senior leadership, and equally able to translate business strategy into technical scope
Proficiency with program/project management tools (Jira, Notion, Confluence, Smartsheet or equivalent)
Familiarity with responsible AI principles: bias and fairness evaluation, model explainability, audit trails, and the regulatory considerations that apply when AI is used in high-stakes decision-making environments
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
Experience in healthcare technology, digital health, or managed care markets.
Understanding of health plan, payer, or clinical operations buyer dynamics.
Working knowledge of HIPAA and relevant AI governance frameworks
Experience shipping AI features to production users at scale including rollout strategies such as shadow mode, staged deployment, and model monitoring in live environments
Familiarity with modern AI/ML stacks: LLMs, RAG architectures, NLP pipelines, vector databases, or clinical NLP tooling
Experience in a high-growth, Series A–C stage company where AI infrastructure and delivery processes are being built from the ground up
