Lead machine-learning based projects from concept through launch. You’ll lead the team’s approach toward new functionality and improvements in Elicit by setting the product vision, generating and validating solutions, and evolving experiences to have the greatest possible impact. You’ll drive projects end-to-end, from prototype to implementation to later iteration.
Solving Elicit’s toughest product challenges. You will rarely (if ever) start with a defined product project at Elicit. You’ll get to work across functions to push the progression of the product and shape how Elicit works. We need you to think through intuitive, focused product solutions to help our users get the most accurate and relevant information out of Elicit.
Embodying the voice of our users. You’ll work with the team to develop a deep understanding of users’ behaviors, drive user research, and leverage that information into hypotheses and design experiments that guide us toward the best user outcomes.
Ensuring the success of new Elicit features. You’ll work closely with the Head of Product, our CEO, and our team of engineers, ML engineers and designers to define the product strategy & roadmap, define success metrics for new features and improvements to Elicit, ensure high-quality implementation, and ship at a high velocity.
Requirements
ML foundational competency: you have 2+ years working in ML and/or with LLMs. You are comfortable shipping some simple PRs and doing basic eval work yourself.
Execution excellence. You take full ownership and get things done. You have a proven track record (6+ years) of launching new products that drive long-term customer love and business impact. You are comfortable across the full stack of product management
defining success, writing specs, talking to users, running analytics, prioritizing feature work, managing releases, etc. You have led a multi-functional team of engineers and designers and managed products across their full life cycle.
Early-stage mindset. You thrive in the high-velocity, high ambiguity, "zero to one” early stages of product building. You're willing to do the unglamorous work early on, then systematize what works. You have hands-on experience at early-stage, fast-growing startups, working directly with design and engineering teams.
Customer obsession. You're genuinely excited about working with researchers and have an instinct for uncovering their deepest needs and pain points.
First-principles thinking. There are no experts on AI research assistants yet
you should be excited about pioneering this space: deeply understanding AI’s potential while uncovering what is holding research back.
Humility & truth-seeking. Our mission is to scale up high-quality reasoning. We care a lot about rigorous thinking and communication, without ego and always seeking the truth. We want someone who is very iterative and highly-receptive to feedback; someone that knows their strengths and how to leverage them, and also their development areas.
Experiences that are not required but are extra helpful: Building products for researchers or biomedical companies; Experience building tools-for-thought, solving complex workflows, or scaling Enterprise/SaaS apps.
