The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) is a field-based role responsible for thought leader engagement and peer-to-peer (P2P) education within Lilly’s portfolio of therapies in Immunology from prelaunch to commercialization, including line extensions.
This role closely partners with the Immunology Customer Strategy Head Senior Director to develop and lead educational engagement strategies for Dermatologists, Allergists, Rheumatologists, Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants), and Key Office Immunology staff (KOS) across a variety of indications including: pediatric and adult psoriasis, alopecia areata, atopic dermatitis and other possible indications.
This role has both an internal as well as external facing component. Internally, this role requires strong cross-functional skills to partner with brand teams, medical, compliance, external vendors, and others in the development, implementation, and execution of the P2P and Congress strategy.
Externally, this job includes interaction, coaching, development and support of contracted thought leaders (faculty and advisors) on a regular basis as well as at Immunology Congresses. All interactions must be consistent with commercial compliance, regulatory, and legal guidelines.
Responsibilities include Commercial Thought Leader Engagement and Faculty Support (50%) with identification, development, and ongoing evaluation of 30-40 Dermatology, Allergy and Rheumatology Thought Leaders (TLs).
Engagement and Brand Strategy Development (30%) and Training/Operations Support (20%).
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
4+ years of industry experience (Immunology strongly preferred, specialty or immunology experience required) with demonstrated leadership and customer-facing results as well as experience working with thought leaders
Preferred advanced graduate degree (PhD, MPH, PharmD, etc.) in a health-related field
Preferred advanced graduate degree in business (MBA)
Consistent demonstration of the performance management leadership behaviors relevant to senior director role (e.g., previous sales leadership or marketing leadership experience)
Prior Marketing or Thought Leader Liaison experience
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills; able to communicate clearly and succinctly with team members and thought leaders
High clinical interest in sophisticated biologic discussions
Strong problem-solving skills: able to recognize problems before they become serious and take corrective action
Excellent self-management and organizational skills; able to handle workload and adjust priorities
Effective teamwork skills; able to adapt to diverse interpersonal styles
Prior launch experience
Expertise with US affiliate marketing materials approval processes
Experience with agencies / external partner vendors
Resilience and ability to lead through uncertainty, white space, and consistently changing environment
Influence with and without authority (one on one and group setting)
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and leadership skills with validated ability to drive decision making and resolve conflicts with internal and external collaborators
Experience translating key customer insights into key product requirements
Knowledge of external environmental trends and healthcare players
Ability to apply all Compliance Policies and Procedures and Good Promotional Practices in unstructured and fluid situations
Understanding of laws and regulations covering providers and payer
