About this role
Role Overview
provide direct management and leadership to staff conducting FERC/NERC compliant transmission planning activities
coordinate with transmission operations, planning, distribution, power generation, nuclear generation, and regulatory units
communicate with regulators and stakeholders on technical aspects and cost impacts of transmission planning projects
coach, lead, develop and supervise employees on Transmission Planning activities
provide communications, direction, and leadership to staff on regulatory requirements and business processes
collaborate with other planning managers to prevent siloed planning
interact with management, regulators, and peers to promote company initiatives
develop a transmission plan and capital budget for assigned geography
ensure compliance with NERC/regional standards and RTO rules
represent the company in industry forums
understand stakeholder views and achieve consensus in discussions
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Engineering
five (5) or more years related work experience
experience pertinent to jurisdictional Transmission Planning
Generator Interconnection processes
ability to analyze and interpret data
collaboration with external organizations and across multiple internal departments
extensive transmission planning experience
prior supervisory and/or management experience
effective communication skills
effective conflict management skills
champion for working safely
effective interpersonal skills
core business process understanding and process development experience
ability to develop change management plans
work experience related to transmission or bulk power system operations
knowledge of FERC Open Access Transmission Tariff requirements
proficient in engineering theories and principles
experience in the utility industry
