Export Control, Customs, Trade Sanctions & Compliance Manager

Role Overview

• Serve as the Group Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary contact for guidance, resources, education, and coordination of export compliance across the Group
• Develop, deploy, maintain, and update export control and customs compliance policies and procedures
• Oversee the company's day-to-day compliance obligations at Group and country levels (primarily France, the United States, Spain, Romania, the United Kingdom, India)
• Make decisions on export licenses and assist in preparing export license applications
• Review contract and other documentation to ensure compliance with export control requirements and company policies

Requirements

• Senior professional experience in Export Controls and Customs with substantial relevant experience (5+ years)
• Strong knowledge of EU and US export control regulations (EAR / ITAR)
• Ability to lead, motivate and manage to achieve project goals on schedule
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey commercial compliance information effectively at various levels
• High-level analytical, evaluation and problem-solving skills with the ability to draw conclusions and make decisions based on regulatory reasoning
• Extensive experience in risk assessment, program and policy development and implementation, procedure writing, designing and delivering training, and managing regulatory relationships
• Experience within complex matrix organizations and cross-functional operating models
• Deep understanding of the complex global risk landscape, reputational risks, local risks and local code and ethics standards
• Combination of strong legal expertise with excellent analytical and conceptual skills and sound commercial judgment; able to balance the role of compliance gatekeeper and business partner
• Ability to quickly identify compliance issues, synthesize impact and determine root cause
• Passionate leadership personality, ideally experienced in managing international and remote indirect teams
• Builds strong relationships across levels and borders, with excellent communication skills, effective influence and confidence in the quality and efficiency of services delivered by the compliance team
• Open-minded with a sense of innovation, change and efficiency
• Unquestionable honesty and integrity
• Fluent (spoken and written) in English and French
