This position supports a culture of compliance and ethics, ensures quality of care and reduces risk from Government audits, fines, penalties and sanctions through close coordination with Flight and Ambulance Services leadership.
It consults, investigates, educates, coordinates, and acts as a liaison across Med Transport departments and functions.
This position oversees an open-ended portfolio of projects and processes and implements initiatives, provides oversight and supports, monitors or participates in committees to ensure successful implementation and sustainment.
It interacts with Med Transport executives and leaders, physicians and clinicians, and caregivers throughout the organization and provides leadership and oversight within the department.
Manages community Drug Enforcement Agency, (DEA) licensing for Med Transport and provides support for clinical operations and pharmacy operations to ensure ordering and storage standards are upheld.
Collaborates with clinical and base leadership to support CMS Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) compliance for community bases, including documentation, acquiring certificates and maintenance, training support, and audit readiness related to point‑of‑care testing.
Acts as a liaison between Med Transport clinical operations and billing teams to ensure that charting standards are compliant with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, (CMS), standards.
Ensures maintenance of all licenses, certifications, accreditation and regulatory standards related to Air Medical Services.
Ensures charts are completed and audits for completeness of documentation, paperwork, and critical care transport justification. Corrects as appropriate and contacts staff as necessary.
Tracks documentation errors and mistakes in order to coach and correct or provide information for education and discipline when necessary.
Works with Revenue Cycle when trends are identified of poor justification from the sending physician, contacts the Physician as needed or develops a plan in which Outreach, Base Manager or Med. Director contacts the sending physician to improve outcomes.
Provides training for new hire orientation and existing staff related to chart compliance.
Collaborates with Med Transport base management on CAMTS, CMS, OSHA, HIPPA, EMTALA, DEA and any operations audits needed.
Collaborate and supports with base and regional leadership on quality improvement and quality assurance education projects and initiatives.
Requirements
Demonstrated professional experience working in a regulatory or compliance-related role.
Demonstrated ability to understand and apply complex healthcare regulations in a healthcare system and to assess and evaluate gaps.
Demonstrated discretion to maintain confidential information, evaluate alternatives, and make effective decisions.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment within formal and informal teams.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills with effective coordination with diverse stakeholders and multiple areas and levels of the organization.
Demonstrated fundamental knowledge and understanding of the elements of an effective compliance program.
Demonstrated leadership competency shown by building partnerships.
Master's Degree or JD (preferred).
Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting governmental statutes and regulations (preferred).
Demonstrated knowledge of Intermountain Med Transport structure, operations, policies, and procedures (preferred).
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
Knowledge of the Intermountain Med Transport structure, operations, policies, and procedures (preferred).
Demonstrated working knowledge of Medicare coding and billing principles (preferred).
