Reporting directly to the Line of Business Head, the Director, Credit Structuring role is specifically accountable for credit risk governance across the Dealer Finance commercial loan portfolio, including oversight of risk appetite, credit strategy, controls, and remediation of emerging and elevated risks.
Provide expert guidance on credit structuring, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance across BMO’s Dealer Finance business.
Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance policies in all aspects of credit risk management, mitigating risk of loss and maintaining high service standards.
Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, contributing to portfolio optimization and business planning.
Drive operational excellence through process innovation, analytics, and continuous improvement.
Assist in monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) across the portfolio and ensure timely follow up with appropriate action plans to address out of compliance items are implemented and actioned by deal teams.
Drives efforts to identify new business opportunities, acquire clients, penetrate markets, and expand the client base by leveraging market insights, competitor analysis, and cross-selling initiatives.
Collaborate with Credit Partners and be viewed as a Credit Leader with the capability of carrying and exercising an elevated discretionary limit.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent delivery of credit and portfolio solutions and alignment with enterprise strategy.
Champion a client-first approach, ensuring timely resolution of complex issues and identifying opportunities to enhance client relationships.
Assist the Managing Directors & Team Leads by playing a pivotal role in with the structuring and execution of customized credit strategies aligned with client needs and business objectives.
Identifies issues, gaps and process improvements through open communication with all stakeholders.
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the bank’s policies, procedures and framework, serving as subject matter expert and a key resource for colleagues.
Represent the Commercial Bank in internal and external forums, including regulatory and industry engagements.
Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives and support broader strategic priorities as required.
Requirements
Minimum 7+ years of experience in commercial banking, credit structuring, or related financial services
Post-secondary degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Credit qualified, with deep expertise in credit principles, structuring, and risk management
Proven technical leadership and recognized as a seasoned expert in the industry
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Strong influence and collaboration skills, with a focus on cross-functional teamwork
Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and deliver results in complex, fast-paced environments
