Risk and Compliance Officer

Role Overview

• Serve as the Malta compliance lead, overseeing all compliance activities and reporting to the MFSA and BoM
• Prepare and deliver reports for the Board of Directors and executive stakeholders
• Develop and maintain risk and compliance programs aligned with Maltese regulations and Windcave global standards
• Ensure policies, procedures, and controls are up to date and effectively implemented
• Oversee enterprise-wide risk management processes
• Act as the local Data Protection Officer (DPO) and liaise with the global DPO to ensure GDPR compliance
• Coordinate internal/external audits and regulatory reviews
• Facilitate staff training on risk, compliance, and data protection matters
• Provide daily compliance and regulatory support to local teams

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in compliance/risk roles within the payments or financial services industry
• Strong working knowledge of MFSA regulations, BoM reporting requirements, and board governance processes
• Experience in liaising with regulators and handling audits
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Maltese is a plus)
• Strong understanding of GDPR and data protection regulations
• Experience with payment systems, banking networks, and acquiring would be advantageous
• Relevant qualifications in law, business, finance, or compliance (a law degree is a plus)
