The Entry Level Category Sales Representative supports category sales and business development activities by gathering insights on product categories, customer needs, and market dynamics.
This role focuses on low‑complexity, low‑impact tasks and operates under close supervision.
The position provides foundational exposure to category management, sales execution, and cross‑functional collaboration while building core sales and business skills.
Develop a foundational understanding of the organization’s products or services, including features, benefits, and value propositions.
Support category sales initiatives by assisting with product line management and quota tracking for low‑complexity products or customer segments.
Follow up with leads and prospective customers to support relationship building, respond to basic inquiries, and collect relevant information.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of customer interactions, sales activities, and pipeline data in CRM systems.
Conduct basic external market research to gather insights on industry trends, competitors, and customer preferences.
Collect and analyze customer feedback to identify needs, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
Translate findings into simple insights and recommendations to support sales and category planning efforts.
Collaborate with internal teams including Marketing, Sales, and Finance to support execution of category plans.
Ensure all activities comply with company policies, procedures, and governance standards.
Assist in coordinating go‑to‑market activities under guidance from senior team members.
Work on routine and clearly defined problems under the supervision of experienced Category Sales Representatives or managers.
Participate in training programs to build knowledge of product categories, sales processes, business fundamentals, and market dynamics.
Demonstrate continuous learning and skill development through feedback and coaching.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience or demonstrated competence.
2–4 years of relevant experience preferred, including exposure to sales, category management, P&L support, marketing, or related business functions.
