The Director EHS Strategy, Compliance and Assurance is responsible for these key activities for the Global Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) organization: strategy, governance, compliance, assurance, EHS management system, budget, long range financial plan, and innovation across Kenvue internal and external value streams.
Collaborate with CRE and Quality Leadership Teams, and across all levels of EHS Site Operations in executing the key responsibilities of this role.
This leader will work closely with the Kenvue EHS leadership to: Shape and implement the EHS Ambition and 3-year tactical plan.
Drive global governance for continuous improvement of the EHS Management System including EHS Performance Standards and assurance program.
Define global processes to ensure data quality and integrity for external reporting to regulatory agencies and reports such as the Kenvue Health Lives Mission report.
Lead Kenvue EHS assurance and ISO audit process to identify and reduce EHS risk.
Manage EHS global budgets and long-range financial plan
Responsible for collaborating with business leaders and EHS leadership and EHS Operations in development of a rolling 3-year ambition, associated tactics, KPI’s and resources to achieve best in class EHS performance, reduce risk, eliminate severe or fatal (SIF) events and undesired environmental events.
Drive continuous improvement of Kenvue EHS management system consistent with ISO 14001 and 45001 and drive continuous improvement of EHS Performance standards.
Provide leadership and direction to two direct reports responsible for EHS Management Systems, Competency, Assurance, and project management.
Establish governance for EHS LT on data quality, EHS Management Review, program management and review.
Collaborate as member of QHS Strategy Leadership team to integrate EHS and Quality initiatives where appropriate.
Gather insights from internal and external sources to drive best in class EHS performance.
Develop and implement global compliance calendar actions consistent with the EHS Performance standards.
Develop and report on Compliance KPI’s
Provide data quality approvals and lead manual validations of Tier 1 EHS data reported to external parties.
Collaborate with EHS Subject Matter Experts in defined process to provide input, assess and implement emerging EHS regulations.
Drive continuous improvement of Kenvue EHS assurance program, defining program elements, monitoring performance and seeking innovative approaches so simplify, enhance data quality and drive performance.
Lead assurance audit process globally to include training/capability of auditors, audit schedule, and timely issuance of audit reports by Regional EHS Excellence Managers.
Manage Global ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications
Develop and manage long range financial plan for Global EHS initiatives.
Collaborate with Finance in development of annual BP and associated quarterly updates for the Global EHS budgets.
Issue purchase orders, approve invoices and ensure zero based budget is executed annually.
Cultivate a culture of innovation through education and sponsoring evaluation of innovations to drive efficiency and enhance EHS performance.
Partner with Digital Q&C to identify EHS opportunities and incorporate future digital/data needs as part of the EHS digital roadmap.
Lead EHS Innovation team in identification and sharing of innovative EHS solutions that solve site specific challenges.
Establish and lead EHS governance processes including EHS leadership team, townhalls, and communications.
Accountable to develop strategies and deploy tools for the evaluation and continuous improvement of EHS competencies and employee engagement.
Serve as subject matter expert and lead cross functional efforts on integration of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles across Quality and EHS.
Responsible for building a culture that hires, grows & develops talent, inspires diversity & inclusive behaviors and enables high performing teams.
Connects externally to industry associations and thought leaders.
Requirements
Minimum 10-12 years with proven successful performance
University/bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, education, management or safety sciences
Demonstrated ability to lead, build, influence, and implement standard business processes and procedures.
Multi-site EHS experience or multi regional experience in positions of increasing responsibility
Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate data and challenge results.
Demonstrated experience with change management.
Technical knowledge in EHS disciplines
Outstanding leadership and collaboration with ability to gain trust and influence at all levels.
Experience with or exposure to global program development / deployment / initiation
Guiding senior management in strengthening of organizations, methodologies and procedures to focus on the critical EHS issues.
Ability to work in virtual cross-regional and cross-functional teams, translate complex situations into simple working solutions, manage complexity, collaborate with all levels of management and influence decision-making across a matrix organization.
Knowledge of global EHS regulations & ISO certifications, EHS Management systems, Human & Organizational Performance and current trends in EHS Culture
Experience in EHS audit program development and implementation
Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to produce and maintain project schedules, create dashboards and track metrics.
