Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
Interact with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information effectively while building and maintaining client relationships
Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives
Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended
Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants
Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications and implement IMEG quality control processes
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work; identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager
Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase
Requirements
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
Professional Engineer (PE) License required
2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and energy compliance software such as ComCheck. Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, BIM software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
