About this role
Role Overview
Process life insurance benefit claims following a death, assessing eligibility in accordance with the contractual clauses of the insurance policy.
Refer more complex files to the appropriate levels of processing
Review death-related documents (death certificates, medical certificates, funeral home documents, etc.) to validate the information required for benefit settlement
Determine the benefit amount, establish the payable period, and proceed with payment, in compliance with tax standards and legal requirements
Code and enter data into computer systems, taking into account applicable tax deductions and file-specific details (type of beneficiary, estate, etc.)
Ensure proactive communication with funeral homes, beneficiaries, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to obtain or provide information, justifications, or explanations related to files
Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of benefit processing procedures, supporting work organization and the optimization of practices within the unit
Requirements
General college diploma in a related field
A minimum of one year of relevant experience
Advanced proficiency in French is required for positions in Quebec
Intermediate advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
