About this role
Role Overview
Request and obtain all approvals, define scope of work, develop terms of reference for requests for proposals/services, prepare and issue tender documentation for procurement of goods/services including the evaluation of submissions.
Coordinate and control project budgets, negotiate and approve changes in scope and maintain the quality and schedule of the project details using project management principles.
Obtain and incorporate input from other Regional Departments and stakeholders for the design and construction of the assigned Regional capital projects.
Liaise with the public, local municipalities, provincial and regulatory agencies and all utilities.
Manage project teams consisting of staff, consultants, external vendors and other stakeholders.
Monitors performance of consultants and contractors via transparent dialogue, ensuring compliance with terms of reference, contract documents and Regional policies.
Provide assistance and recommendations on the preparation and development of the annual Capital Budget.
Voice and discuss recommendations for the continual improvements of current practices.
Perform other duties as assigned, in accordance with the departments objectives.
Requirements
Successful completion of a degree in Civil Engineering, a Certified Engineering Technologist diploma or related field.
Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure including watermain transmission and distribution systems and/or sanitary sewer or an equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.
Thorough knowledge of design standards, related codes, regulations, safety acts, tendering/contract process and contract administration.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess a Professional Engineering Designation and are members of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
