Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and team members, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, including California-specific requirements (FEHA, CFRA, Wage & Hour, OSHA).
Partner with leadership to assess workforce needs and develop strategies including recruitment, onboarding, retention, succession planning, talent and performance management, coaching, documentation, and development planning.
Foster a positive work environment through proactive collaboration with the leaders and team members.
Partner with management to address team member issues and concerns, facilitate fair and consistent resolutions and respond to team member inquiries on HR related matters.
Support the hiring and selection process by partnering with hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team on hiring strategies, compliant job descriptions, and offer decisions.
Ensure effective onboarding of all new hires.
Lead complex employee relations matters, including investigations, coaching, conflict resolution and policy interpretation, ensuring outcomes are compliant, fair and consistent.
Design and deliver classroom and virtual training programs to promote awareness of HR practices, applicable regulations, and to support leadership and team member growth and engagement.
Collaborate with HR colleagues to implement HR programs, policies, and global initiatives across assigned business units.
Support the performance management process, including reviews and calibration, to promote consistency, fairness and timely feedback to all team members.
Provide guidance on ADA accommodations and the interactive process and manage and track all leaves of absence and workers’ compensation claims.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field
Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field (preferred)
10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
4+ years of business partner experience
Strong working knowledge of California employment law
Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience working in an international company and/or in the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry (preferred)
Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in counseling, coaching, project management, and employment law
Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
Ability to work independently and manage one's time
Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred certifications: PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR or SHRM-SCP
