Create detailed 2D technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, assembly views, and exploded views, based on provided sketches, concepts, and design briefs.
Produce accurate 3D models and assemblies using suitable CAD software.
Prepare fully dimensioned and annotated production-ready documentation for prototyping and manufacturing.
Revise and update drawings efficiently in response to internal feedback, testing outcomes, or production requirements.
Contribute practical design refinement suggestions relating to form, function, ergonomics, joinery, and aesthetics while maintaining the original design intent.
Support design-for-manufacturability by recommending practical improvements to materials, hardware, and construction methods to optimise cost, quality, and production efficiency.
Liaise with manufacturers where required to clarify technical drawings, discuss material selections, and support efficient production outcomes.
Prepare bills of materials, assembly instructions, and manufacturing specifications.
Collaborate closely with the Australian product development team through shared files, chat platforms, and regular communication.
Maintain strong version control and organised project documentation.

Requirements
Minimum 3+ years’ professional experience in technical drafting for furniture, product design, or related manufacturing environments.
Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Product Design, Mechanical Drafting, or a related technical discipline.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for precise 2D technical drafting.
Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent 3D modelling software.
SketchUp Pro experience will be highly regarded.
Strong ability to produce clean, accurate, and fully dimensioned production drawings with proper annotations.
Good understanding of furniture and product design principles, including joinery methods, material properties, ergonomics, and hardware integration.
Ability to contribute practical design improvements that enhance manufacturability, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
Experience liaising with manufacturers to resolve technical queries and refine designs for production.
Strong understanding of design-for-manufacturability principles and cost-effective construction methods.
Ability to prepare bills of materials, assembly instructions, and production documentation accurately.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong organisational skills, version control discipline, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and reliably in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality technical drafting work for furniture or related products.
