Own the Library’s two primary fundraising events – Library Lions and the Library Lunch
Event programming and implement ways to increase event-related fundraising revenue and maximize donor engagement, cultivation, and stewardship
Teach donors, prospective supporters, and event attendees about The New York Public Library’s mission
Teach colleagues about best practices for events management and staffing
Learn strategic priorities of Development and the Library
Learn Raiser’s Edge database and event-related data entry, reporting, list management, and gift processing procedures
Improve processes to enhance the donor experience and maximize fundraising potential
Meet Development staff and other key internal stakeholders
Become familiar with event policies, procedures, and timelines
Oversee a portfolio of select Development events
Actively participate in meetings and provide speaker and honoree suggestions for upcoming events
Engage with donors and honorees at events as well as via email and phone correspondence
Lead planning for upcoming fundraising events
Improve upon processes as needed
Manage the Library’s two primary fundraising events – Library Lions and the Library Lunch
Alongside third-party vendors and other internal teams, produce all printed and electronic materials for events
Requirements
Bachelor's degree
5-7 years related experience; fundraising experience required
Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders
A proven record of creating and fostering excellent relationships with all levels of staff, donors, and the public, and the ability to exercise good judgment
Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, and reliability
Proficient experience using Raiser’s Edge or other comparable CRM programs
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and a working knowledge of social media
High degree of initiative, organization, and follow-through
Able to work independently and effectively under pressure
Superior written communication and interpersonal skills
In the absence of the Associate Director, The Manager, Development Events will assume leadership responsibilities of the Development Events team.
