Role Overview
- Prepare selected monthly/quarterly and ad-hoc journal vouchers with intermediate levels of complexity based on nature of accounts and/or dollar value
- Identify, analyze and reconcile inconsistent information and recommend adjustments where necessary
- Responsible for maintaining the general ledger and ensuring accurate recording of transactions of assigned accounts to support rapid and accurate period-end close
- Reconciling assigned accounts and resolving discrepancies for review by manager
- Ensure reconciling items are resolved timely
- Ensure adherence to all policies and legislation regarding accurate reporting of financial results
- Collaborate closely with the auditors to provide requested financial information and supporting documents in a timely manner
- Support junior staff with more complicated audit requests and act as back-up for coverage when needed
- Complete internal & external audit requests on time and accurately
- Assist with ad-hoc projects, such as system implementations or process improvements; conduct financial analysis for business decision-making as directed by manager
- Collect, capture, and reconcile large amounts of data from a variety of sources and create report-style outputs
- Evaluate and drive accounting process improvements, while working with cross-functional teams to improve associated processes across the business
- Perform complex financial analysis, including: conducting research, identifying gaps in processes and results, designing and implementing solutions to support reporting and analysis requirements
Requirements
- 3-5 years of progressive finance and accounting related experience in an analytical role in Finance or Accounting
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills including ability to use lookups and pivot tables and utilize it to analyze financial data efficiently
- Bachelor of Accounting/Finance
- A professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
- Relevant experience with period-end close, financial analysis, internal control (CSOX), and financial process optimization
- Working knowledge of General Ledger and Chart of Account Structures
- Working Knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements applicable to public companies (IFRS)
