Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Maintain the integrity of financial statements while continuously improving close processes, documentation, supporting schedules, and internal controls.
Deliver timely monthly financial reports to the board.
Partner with CFO on a key initiative to transition to departmental budgets, including a full overhaul of the current reporting structure.
Maintain accounting policies and controls across all departments.
Oversee inventory cost accounting, COGS accuracy, and gross margin analysis across domestic, DTC, and international sales channels; maintain inventory obsolescence records.
Manage revenue recognition across all sales channels, including customer trading terms, discounts, allowances, returns, and damaged goods.
Manage the ERP system (NetSuite), identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
Serve as the day-to-day contact for the bank, managing credit facilities and ensuring compliance with covenants and audits.
Oversee end to end credit control function, with day-to-day collection activity managed by the team.
Work with cross-functional teams to address any issues.
Ownership of the accounts payable function. Ensure accurate recording of expenses and accruals. Manage payments in accordance with working capital. Maintaining supplier relationships.
Work with external auditors to complete the annual review of the company's financial statements.
Manage sales tax in all U.S. states using Avalara.
Oversee payroll, benefits, and 401(k) administration, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax and labor laws.
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of three accounting professionals.
Partner with cross-functional departments, providing accounting insight that supports planning, forecasting, and decision-making.
Requirements
8–10+ years of accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Prior experience in the CPG sector is a must. Preferably with Omni-Channel sales experience, working with retailers such as Amazon.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
Experience managing federal and state tax filings.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems; NetSuite preferred.
Proven track record in accounting process transformation.
Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous, fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead and coach teams.
Strong change management and leadership skills.
Clear communicator with the ability to simplify complex financial challenges.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; active CPA is a strong plus.
