This position is a highly professional position performing independent and complex accounting functions involving local funds and governmental funds.
It involves the independent application of accounting and auditing concepts, principles, theory and technical skills in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or other comprehensive basis of accounting to a major function of an accounting program and monitoring proper application of internal control within the local funds' activities.
This position assists in developing and monitoring accounting policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, attention to detail and resourcefulness in determining the true nature of discrepancies are a must.
Perform independent and complex accounting functions involving local funds and governmental funds, that requires the ability to analyze data and understand accounting reconciliations, establish and maintaining of allotments and encumbrances of assigned contracts, including monitoring Fixed Capital Outlay contracts, and process Journal Transfers.
Responsible for the application of independent accounting, research, auditing, and analytical skills with the ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve problems, coordinates with budget managers, accounting staff, and other offices and assists them in auditing data, ensuring corrections are completed accurately and making recommendations as appropriate.
Requirements
Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Four (4) years of professional accounting experience.
