Prepare routine litigation procedures and filings.
Ensure strict deadline management; schedule and monitor deadlines with lawyers.
Prepare drafts of documents; review documents and correspondence to ensure they comply with client and court guidelines and grammatical standards; format documents.
Open, file, track and organize case files.
Manage all communications, including phone calls, emails and other correspondence.
Organize and coordinate meetings between lawyers, clients and other stakeholders as required.
Prepare files for meetings and hearings (correspondence and other relevant documents).
Perform other relevant tasks as new business needs arise.
Requirements
Diploma in secretarial studies (DEP) or a college diploma (DEC) in administration, legal studies, or an equivalent combination of academic training and experience.
3 to 5 years of relevant experience as a litigation legal assistant, with knowledge of legal terminology and rules of procedure.
Bilingualism is required (French and English), with the ability to write and communicate effectively in both languages, depending on the matters handled by the lawyers.
Experience supporting a team of three or more lawyers, with the ability to manage a high volume of files simultaneously.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, at an intermediate or, ideally, advanced level.
Strong attention to detail, rigor and excellent organizational skills.
Familiarity with insurance law is an asset.
Strong ability to work in a computerized environment with various software and a demonstrated capacity to learn new IT tools quickly.
Ability to work remotely in an organized and productive manner.
