Execute routine servicing, safety inspections, preventative maintenance, and pre-inspection preparations for annual Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Ministry of Transport (MOT) testing on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs).
Service, repair, and optimise onboard heavy-duty shredding machinery, hydraulic systems, and automated loading mechanisms to ensure safe and efficient mobile asset destruction.
Utilise advanced diagnostic software to identify and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and 12v/24v auto-electrical faults across both the truck chassis and shredding control panels.
Maintain meticulous service records, defect sheets, and inventory logs while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations to ensure all machinery guards and safety cut-offs function perfectly.
Provide rapid response to vehicle and machinery issues to minimise client delays and safely return drivers to their routes.
Requirements
Proven experience working on commercial trucks (HGVs and LGVs) within a fast-paced workshop environment.
Strong technical knowledge of heavy hydraulics, pneumatics, auto-electrics, and mechanical fault diagnosis.
National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
A valid United Kingdom driving license (a HGV/Class 2 license is highly preferred).
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, a proactive approach to vehicle safety, and basic welding or fabrication skills (preferred).
The ability to successfully pass a standard background and security screening, as required for handling secure assets.
