About this role
Role Overview
Plan and book daily truckload movements
Dynamically adjust truck size, routing, and consolidation decisions based on volume, cut times, and service requirements
Ensure loads are tendered, accepted, dispatched, and delivered on time
Negotiate contracted and spot rates with carriers
Secure spot capacity when contracted options are unavailable or suboptimal
Maintain rate cards and spot rate benchmarks by lane and equipment type
Track all assigned loads from pickup through delivery
Proactively identify risks (late pickups, missed appointments, breakdowns, capacity failures)
Coordinate recovery plans with carriers, FCs, and downstream partners
Escalate high-impact risks with clear mitigation options and tradeoffs
Provide weekend or after-hours support when needed
Balance service-level commitments with cost efficiency on a daily basis
Identify recurring cost drivers and performance issues by lane or carrier
Support continuous improvement efforts related to lane design, carrier mix, and tender strategy
Ensure accurate load status updates in TMS and internal systems
Validate carrier confirmations, PODs, and delivery timestamps
Support reporting on on-time performance and cost
Requirements
Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
Strong critical thinker who can evaluate tradeoffs and make sound decisions with incomplete information
Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environments with changing daily plans
Clear, concise communicator who can escalate issues with context and proposed solutions
Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or operations (preferred)
Exposure to truckload transportation (FTL, LTL, dry van, box truck) (preferred)
Experience working with TMS, carrier portals, or operational tracking tools (preferred)
Familiarity with freight terminology, equipment types, or rate structures (preferred)
Background in operations-heavy roles (dispatch, warehouse ops, field ops, customer ops) (preferred)
