About this role
Role Overview
Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment
Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects
Daily travel with independent work structure
Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call
Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments
Battery installations and replacements
Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled
Customer contact and interface
Communicate availability status to corporate office
Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records
Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary
Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary
Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition
Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards
Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately
Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review
Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary
Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools
Cross train in other areas as needed
Requirements
Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+
Proficient Level III Technician requires six years of field experience servicing generator systems with extensive experience on 500KW+
Proficient with preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, ATS repairs, controller retrofits and Loadbanking equipment
Level IV Technician requires ten years of field experience servicing generator systems of all sizes and applications, expert in preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, retrofitting advanced controls and Loadbanking equipment
High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience or equivalent field experience
Expert in major engine repairs, able to diagnose a wide variety on various applications
Experienced with Volvo and PSI engines
Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems, able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
Expert troubleshooting skills, no return call outs for work performed
Expert at reading or dissecting schematics and wiring diagrams to diagnose most electrical issues
Well versed with Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electric controls environment
Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures
