Oversee the implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of IonQ’s global LAN, WAN, Wireless, and VPN infrastructure
Configure, manage, and lifecycle network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless controllers) from major vendors
Participate in an on-call rotation for critical network issues and guide the team in resolving escalated Tier 1/2 helpdesk issues
Establish and manage a robust on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage for critical network issues
Lead the operational roadmap for integrating diverse, newly acquired subsidiaries into a unified IonQ infrastructure
Collaborate with internal systems teams to align network access with modern Identity and Access Management (IAM)
Ensure all corporate network infrastructures and subsidiary integrations strictly adhere to CMMC and SOC2 Type II compliance frameworks
Requirements
7-10 years of experience in network engineering and administration
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical work experience
Deep understanding of core networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
Strong hands-on experience configuring and managing enterprise firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks), secure VPN tunneling, and access control lists
Practical experience building, auditing, or maintaining networks within highly regulated frameworks such as SOC2 Type II or CMMC
Familiarity navigating migrations from traditional On-Prem Active Directory domains to modern, identity-driven cloud directories (e.g., JumpCloud, Okta) and Conditional Access Policies
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaborating effectively with subsidiary IT leads, internal stakeholders, and external vendors during stressful infrastructure transitions
Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation and travel occasionally to other IonQ manufacturing or office sites
