About this role
Role Overview
Manage a portfolio of nonprofit and for-profit client engagements.
Review monthly financial reports for quality and accuracy.
Provide financial guidance and operational recommendations to clients.
Ensure all client deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
Lead accounting cleanup projects for new and existing clients.
Oversee client onboarding, including assessment of accounting records, accounting system setup, and transition planning.
Support implementation of accounting best practices, internal controls, and standardized procedures.
Assist with special accounting projects and process improvement initiatives.
Complete QuickBooks online transitions and training sessions.
Supervise and mentor a team of CFOs and bookkeepers.
Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to accounting staff.
Manage performance reflections for accounting staff.
Serve as an escalation point for accounting questions and client issues.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Previous experience in a Controller, Finance Manager/Director, CFO, or similar leadership role
Must have extensive experience managing finances for non-profit organizations
Proven experience supervising and mentoring accounting or finance teams
Strong understanding of financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial analysis
Experience leading accounting cleanup projects and transitioning accounting systems
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Desktop
Excellent organizational, communication, and client relationship management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-service environment
Experience managing both nonprofit and for-profit accounting engagements strongly preferred
Experience with both CFO level work and bookkeeping preferred
CPA preferred but not required
Residency local to NYS Capital Region.
