They are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead engineering efforts for substation projects, ensuring project success while providing exceptional customer service and quality deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare conceptual designs and execution plans
- Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules
- Perform and document quality reviews for other engineers and designers
- Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium and high voltage substation projects
- Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks
- Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements
- Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas
- Work and coordinate with small multi-discipline (Civil, Structural, Physical, P&C, Transmission Line) project teams to execute substation projects
- Responsible for providing weekly updates to Sr. team leaders on milestone progress, estimated completion dates including percent completion of activities and supporting information to monitor project progress
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in the Substation/Power Delivery field
- Experience with high voltage substation design (12kV through 500kV) activities such as preparing one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams, physical layouts, electrical elevations, plans (equipment, grounding, and raceway), and bills of materials including selection of non-standard equipment
- Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards
- Strong preference for those with excellent written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, great organizational skills, proactive and forward-thinking individuals
- Knowledge of Protection and Controls design is a must
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- PE license is a must
- Experience with power system calculations (AC station service, DC battery sizing, and Voltage Drop/Cable Selection) is a plus
- Experience with relay settings is a plus
- Knowledge of substation physical equipment is a plus
