The Senior Director of Software Engineering will lead enterprise-wide technical program and delivery efforts, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and driving the integration of AI into workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Set the enterprise delivery strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, OKRs, and long range priorities
- Oversee multiple portfolios, ensuring coordinated planning, prioritization, and sequencing across teams, systems, and business units
- Guide capacity, demand, and forecasting conversations to support sustainable, predictable enterprise delivery
- Govern portfolio level prioritization, ensuring unified backlogs and transparent trade off decisions
- Anticipate and resolve systemic risks and dependencies, partnering with architecture and engineering to address structural constraints
- Establish delivery governance, KPIs, and dashboards that provide executives visibility into performance, risk posture, and value realization
- Lead high impact cross organizational initiatives requiring coordination across internal partners and external stakeholders
- Represent delivery strategy and progress in executive forums, clearly communicating risks, needs, and outcomes
- Influence senior leaders across technology, product, operations, and business domains to maintain shared priorities and coordinated execution
- Provide guidance through ambiguity, transformation, and organizational change, ensuring teams receive consistent direction
- Strengthen collaboration across teams to drive integration, operational cohesion, and efficient flow of work
- Champion an AI First culture, setting expectations for leaders and teams and ensuring alignment with enterprise AI governance
- Sponsor AI upskilling at scale (e.g., AI Literacy, AI Dojo, leadership enablement), ensuring teams understand how to apply AI confidently and safely
- Drive adoption of AI enabled operating models, integrating AI into planning, delivery, workflow redesign, and decision making
- Establish responsible AI guardrails, reinforcing ethical standards, legal compliance, and risk management
- Modernize organizational ways of working by enabling teams to use AI to improve workflows, accelerate delivery, and enhance decision quality across portfolios
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or 15+ years of equivalent experience
- 15+ years in software engineering, product delivery, or technology leadership
- 10+ years leading multi team or multi portfolio delivery organizations
- Proven success in portfolio level governance, including prioritization, forecasting, roadmap alignment, and multi team execution
- Experience in SDLC, platform modernization, integration management, and large scale system delivery
- Demonstrated executive level communication, influence, negotiation, and organizational leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizations through significant change, including operating model, process, or platform transformation
- Demonstrated AI First leadership: models responsible AI usage, sponsors enterprise AI learning, and drives AI enabled transformation across organizations
- Master's degree
- Healthcare or regulated industry experience
- Demonstrated background in engineering, architecture, or enterprise platform strategy
- Experience leading Centers of Excellence or enterprise capability development (AI, Delivery, Agile, DevOps)
- Recognized enterprise thought leadership experience (speaking, writing, communities of practice)
