Workato is a leader in enterprise orchestration, helping businesses streamline operations through its AI-powered platform. The Staff Software Engineer will focus on ecosystem contribution, enhancing developer experience, maintaining open-source MCP servers, and engaging with the MCP community.
Responsibilities:
- Thinking deeply about the end user as much as you consider what makes a great developer experience
- Contributions to the MCP specification and reference implementations
- Building and maintaining open-source MCP servers and tooling
- Participating actively in community discussions, helping others solve problems, and sharing what you learn
- An Ability and Eagerness to represent Workato as a constructive, technically credible voice in the MCP community
Requirements:
- 5–7+ years of professional software development experience with a proven track record of shipping high-quality products
- Active, visible contributor to the MCP ecosystem
- Strong software engineering skills in Python or TypeScript, with comfort across multiple languages
- Existing relationships within the MCP community
- Proven track record of publicly writing, discussing, reviewing, and helping
- Experience shipping products, creating kits, understanding developer tools, and/or managing teams
- Contributions to the MCP spec or official repositories
- Experience with enterprise integration challenges
- Track record of sustained open source contribution
- Adaptable, proactive, and creative—comfortable working in a dynamic, startup-like environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
