Director, Platform Engineering

CivicPlus is dedicated to innovation and collaboration in local government services. The Director of Platform Engineering will lead teams responsible for multi-cloud infrastructure, observability, and CI/CD automation, shaping the technical foundation for product teams to build and scale software efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Set the platform vision and lead execution across shared services, infrastructure, and tooling while building and mentoring high-performing platform, SRE, and DevOps teams
• Own the design and operation of secure, scalable AWS and Azure environments, establishing standards for reliability, observability, resilience, and incident management
• Create paved-road developer platforms, CI/CD systems, and automation that improve velocity, quality, and consistency across teams
• Champion operational rigor through SLOs, reviews, and cost-aware engineering practices, ensuring efficient, sustainable growth

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE leadership roles within a SaaS environment
• Deep experience with secure cloud architectures, infrastructure-as-code, hybrid hosting models, and modern security technologies
• Strong knowledge of observability and reliability engineering practices
• Experience building internal platforms that enhance developer productivity and reduce operational burden
• Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize cloud costs at scale
• Strong track record in incident response, risk management, and executive communication
• Strong knowledge of GovRAMP, FedRAMP, NIST, STIGs, ISO 27001 and other government compliance frameworks
• Ability to engage with government agencies and communicate security posture with clarity and confidence
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across engineering, product, and business functions
