In-House Connect LLC is the largest free community for in-house legal professionals, and they are seeking a Sponsorship & Business Development Manager to drive revenue by managing sponsor relationships and developing new business opportunities. The role involves owning the full sponsor lifecycle, from identifying and pitching new sponsors to ensuring renewals and delivering on sponsor commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Own the ongoing relationship with all active sponsors — be their main point of contact at IHC
- Proactively check in with sponsors throughout the year, not just at renewal time
- Manage renewal conversations and upsell opportunities (e.g., a webinar sponsor adding a mixer, or upgrading to a multi-event package)
- Identify, research, and prospect new sponsors — law firms, legal tech, and professional services companies targeting in-house counsel
- Run outreach campaigns via email, LinkedIn, and warm introductions to build a qualified pipeline
- Lead discovery calls and pitch meetings, positioning IHC’s sponsorship packages (webinar sponsorships, mixer sponsorships, newsletter features)
- Close new sponsor deals and hit quarterly revenue targets
- Track pipeline activity in CRM and report on outreach metrics weekly
- Help refine and evolve IHC’s sponsorship offerings based on what the market wants and what our audience values
- Develop pricing recommendations as IHC’s reach grows
- Build case studies and testimonials from successful sponsorships to support future sales
Requirements:
- 3–7 years in sponsorship sales, business development, account management, or partnership sales — ideally in events, media, associations, or professional communities
- Experience selling intangible value (community access, brand exposure, thought leadership) rather than just transactional booth space
- Comfortable building pipeline from scratch — cold outreach, warm networking, LinkedIn prospecting
- Strong relationship management instincts — you remember the details, follow up without being asked, and sponsors genuinely like working with you
- Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) to manage pipeline and track activity
- Self-starter who thrives in a small, fast-moving organization without a lot of structure
- Excellent written and verbal communication — you can write a compelling pitch email and hold your own on a call with a law firm CMO
- Familiarity with the legal industry is a plus, but not required — what matters is that you can quickly learn who the buyers are and what they care about
