The Project ES&H Manager will lead a high-performance team to develop and manage complex Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) project programs, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement in project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Assure that ESH requirements are properly interpreted and integrated in planning documents, design criteria, construction and operational plans, schedules, training programs, and subcontract documents
- Apply Bechtel's ESH Management System and standards (core processes) to achieve, maintain, and continually improve program execution and compliance with ESH requirements
- Provide support within ESH teams and to other project groups, so that ESH requirements are integrated within project planning, design, construction planning, procurement, subcontracts, commissioning, and other project functions
- Work with other functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them with ESH requirements to assist them in addressing ESH requirements in their work products and activities
- Prepare technical and regulatory reports and notifications in conformance with contract, regulatory, and Bechtel requirements
- Assure that permit applications, studies, reports, and assessments are completed as required
- Prepare the project Safety and Health Management Plan, safety and health specific plans, project-specific control plans, and safety and health awareness and training programs in compliance with Bechtel standards, ESH Management System, and contract and regulatory requirements
- Emphasize and use risk assessment and Bechtel's ESH Management System to help achieve continual improvement
Requirements:
- A Master of Science degree (or equivalent) in environmental, occupational safety, health, or a science-related discipline from an accredited university or college and 12 or more years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in environmental, occupational safety, health, or science-related discipline from an accredited university or college and 14 or more years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree (or equivalent) in environmental, occupational safety, health, or a science-related field and 16 or more years of relevant experience
- Strong organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills
- Ability to research and comprehend regulatory requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer and analytical skills for presentations, data management, recordkeeping, and report preparation
- Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions
- Expertise in incident investigation, procedure development, and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks
- Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed, and a wide range of tasks
- Valid driver's license
- Demonstrated interest, training, and experience in applied sciences
- Knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management System standards and certified as an ISO 45001 internal auditor
- Broad technical knowledge, science skills, and technical writing abilities
- Professional certification (e.g., ASP, OHST, CSP, CIH) or progress toward certification is highly desirable
