Jensen Hughes is a leader in fire protection engineering with a legacy of responsibility since 1939. They are seeking an experienced Professional Engineer (Structural) to manage energy and utility projects, particularly in nuclear power, while also working on various other sectors like industrial and commercial.
Responsibilities:
- Manage projects and perform technical work for the Energy & Utilities group, specifically Nuclear Power
- Manage projects and perform technical work for other sectors (industrial, commercial, government, etc.) as needed
- Be willing to travel occasionally (<10%) to meet with clients and/or gather data from client sites (measurements, photographs, documents, etc.)
- Attend client project and design meetings, manage project expectations, and complete assigned tasks on schedule and within budget
- Prepare and present technical reports and design milestone presentations
Requirements:
- Technical degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD) in either Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
- Ability to work under the requirements of 10 CFR Part 810 with respect to nuclear technology
- Experience with the design and analysis of concrete and steel structures
- Experience with analysis and design for seismic loading scenarios
- Experience with ANSYS software
- Excellent communication skills, including speaking and writing (email, letters, technical documents, etc.)
- Ability to present clear and technically sound engineering concepts and designs
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage a project

- United States citizen or lawful permanent resident
- At least 5 years of experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) (structural) license and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license
- Experience with the United States Department of Defense Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-300-series of standards
- Experience with design and analysis for extreme loading scenarios (tornado, missile impact, blast, thermal transients, fragment impact, etc.)
- Experience with progressive collapse design and analysis
- Experience with STAAD and/or GT STRUDL software
- Experience with the nonlinear analysis capabilities of the aforementioned software
