Ultra Intelligence & Communications is redefining defense technology, focusing on creating solutions for military applications. The Field Applications Engineer will provide pre-sales technical support, serve as a key technical partner, and ensure customer requirements are met through effective communication and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide pre‑sales technical expertise for Ultra Communications Line of Sight (LOS) and (Beyond Line-of-Sight) BLOS tactical radio systems
- Support BD/Sales teams by interpreting customer requirements and aligning them with Ultra’s product capabilities
- Present and explain system designs, applications, and technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders
- Assess customer needs and evaluate how Ultra’s solutions compare to competing technologies
- Participate in technical exchanges with government labs, PMOs, operational units, and industry partners to support solution positioning
- Plan, coordinate, and execute on‑site demonstrations, field trials, exercises, and customer engagements
- Manage the logistical and technical setup required for successful demos, including equipment preparation, configuration, and connectivity
- Troubleshoot issues encountered during pre‑sales events to ensure the product performs as intended, and customer confidence is maintained
- Support international and domestic technical demonstrations and customer events
- Support planning and execution of trade shows, conferences, and industry events
- Represent Ultra Communications as a technical subject-matter expert in pre‑sales engagements
- Develop customer-facing materials such as briefings, CONOPS, OV‑1s, and competitive analyses
- Clearly articulate unique customer requirements and help shape differentiated technical solutions
- Provide structured feedback to engineering, product management, and program management to influence product evolution
- Collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed teams across time zones
- Mentor junior FAEs or field service representatives on pre‑sales best practices and technical fundamentals
- Supports knowledge transfer to post-sales personnel when appropriate
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering) or equivalent experience
- 5–10 years of experience in technical sales engineering or pre‑sales roles within the defense sector
- Strong background in LOS/BLOS communications technologies
- Experience working with U.S. government procurement processes, acquisition frameworks, and DoD budget structures
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret or NATO Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required for U.S. clearance)
- Ability to travel up to 40% to U.S., Canadian, and international locations
- Strong Radio Frequency (RF) background with a deep understanding of tactical LOS/BLOS transport networks and Software-Defined Radio (SDR) technologies
- Strong IP networking skills
- Knowledge of U.S. Army Air Defense platforms, architectures, and CONOPS
- Tactical communications experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience briefing senior military leaders and managing high‑level relationships
- Experience supporting international tech
