US Claro is a telecommunications company seeking a Project Engineer to serve as the primary technical point of contact during the implementation phase of their projects. The role involves coordinating cross-functional engineering teams, ensuring technical solutions are sound and implemented correctly, and troubleshooting issues that arise during the implementation phase.
Responsibilities:
- Understand complex telecom technical solutions proposed by different teams, including mostly MPLS, SD-WAN, P2P, and Internet elements
- Understand modern telecom backbone design, as well as customer’s end solution designs
- Identify flaws, improvements or propose different technical solutions
- Identify potential technical risks, solutions, and workarounds needed to meet and exceed customers’ expectations before and during implementation
- Propose configuration standards
- Communicate with the Project Manager and customers as the technical lead
- Define technical configurations that meet project standards within the project's scope
- Identify diverse equipment operating software and firmware requirements as well as their respective necessary licenses
- Define the methods, procedures, and resources required to implement activities
- Coordinate interactions among different systems and engineers across several countries
- Attend testing and implementation calls and/or online meetings
- Discuss technical issues, solutions, and workarounds with internal and external stakeholders
- Configure and operate monitoring systems
- Adhere to customers’ schedules mostly in Latin America
- Position yourself as the primary technical lead to troubleshoot issues that may arise during implementation
- Ensure the final technical solution is delivered within the project scope and in accordance with internal standards
- Ensure the customer acceptance of the implemented technical solution
- Experience in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise networks, including LAN, WAN, cloud solutions, software defined networking
- Experience with SD-WAN or SASE solutions such as Cisco Viptela, Fortinet, and Meraki
- Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network protocols
- Fundamentals of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, HSRP, VRRP, MC-LAG, LDP, RSVP
- Automate repetitive implementation tasks to minimize manual intervention during implementation and activation
- Use several IT tools to document project requirements, changes, and final solutions
- Manage documentation efficiently to meet tight delivery deadlines
- Prepare special technical reports in standard and non-standard formats
- Document all technical information needed for a clean implementation and transition to maintenance teams in different countries
- Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Systems Engineering
- 2+ years of customer interface experience in the related area
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Expertise in troubleshooting the following routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
- Expertise in troubleshooting: MPLS, QoS, IPv6, IP Multicast, SD-WAN
- Knowledge of various scripting languages (i.e., Perl, Python, Shell)
- Proficient with wireline copper and fiber network technology
- Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP networking

- CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional Upon Hire
- ITIL Foundations v3 Upon Hire
- Additional Licenses and Certifications: Cisco CCIP and Juniper Jun OS Certification, upon hire
