The Senior Interconnection Engineer will spearhead interconnection efforts from early-stage development through construction and into commercial operation, collaborating with internal teams and external parties to meet interconnection requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage interconnection activities and track requirements for interconnection studies and applications
- Communicate and coordinate with Independent System Operators/Regional Transmission Organizations (ISOs/RTOs), transmission providers, and utilities to ensure project interconnections are cost-effective
- Develop and manage interconnection schedules, ensuring all milestones are achieved
- Support negotiations for technical studies and interconnection agreements
- Oversee consultants' work on interconnection applications, modeling, and studies
- Assist the Project Engineering team and Project Managers with design, construction, and commissioning deliverables
- Support the Origination team with bid activities, including preparing technical documents for RFPs
- Stay current on new and emerging technologies and policies at ISOs/RTOs
- Develop and implement new methodologies, tools, and procedures to improve efficiencies throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering or a related field from an accredited university
- 3 - 5 years of experience as an Senior Interconnection Engineer/Interconnection Engineer in the renewable energy industry, utility, or RTO/ISO environment
- Proficiency with software used in interconnection studies, such as PSS/E, PSCAD, and PSLF
- In-depth knowledge of interconnection procedures at utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and transmission providers
- Ability to comprehend complex interconnection study reports and communicate their impact on projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for working with external and internal customers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- A degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred but not required
