Metabolon, Inc. is a global leader in metabolomics, providing biological insights for various sectors. The Business Development Executive will drive and close opportunities in key markets, build strong customer relationships, and develop strategic plans to meet revenue goals.
Responsibilities:
- Meet quarterly and annual bookings targets through strategic territory planning, exhibition of sales drivers, and a high level of prospecting
- Identify customer and market needs, advocating Metabolon’s technology to develop a broader awareness, understanding, and collaboration potential within each account
- Develop and execute clear strategic plan to pursue and close business to meet revenue goals
- Proactively build revenue pipeline through independent prospecting and lead generation
- Build relationships with key opinion leaders and champions to position Metabolon as the preferred technology for metabolomics-based biological insights
- Form and maintain strong customer relationships to build pipeline for new and repeat business
- Work effectively with sales leadership and internal resources to outline strategic opportunities and markets and mobilize resources in support of customer needs
- Prepare and effectively present business presentations
- Utilize strategic selling methods to dig beneath the surface to identify and address the core needs of the customer
- Routinely provide an accurate sales forecast that is directly tied to sales metrics around prospecting, funnel management, and accountability of CRM (Salesforce.com) input data
- Work with internal resources for effective study design and timely sample receipt for projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field required
- 3-5+ years business development experience in the life sciences services space with a proven track record
- Demonstrated strategic selling proficiency
- Demonstrated strong prospecting skills in finding and developing own leads
- Experience in leading and completing commercial contracts and sales negotiations with universities, research institutes and/or commercial companies
- Excellent written and oral communication and compelling presentation skills required
- Experience working with cross-functional teams both internally and externally to manage and implement complex partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to lead sales situations within complex environments
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to synthesize data into insightful information
- Attention to detail, strong time management skills, superior work ethic, and a self-starter capable of working independently
- Proven ability to own and manage multiple key accounts and meet quarterly sales quota goals
- Proficiency with CRM, preferably Salesforce.com, and Microsoft Office Suite software
- Must be willing and able to travel 50-60%
- A Master's or PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related science and/or a MBA is preferred
- Completion of professional sales training preferred (eg: Miller Heiman, Challenger Sales, Value Selling)
- Experience in the ‘omics space or laboratory experience in a metabolomics core lab is highly desired
