Vetcor is a leading provider of veterinary care, managing a network of 900 veterinary practices across the United States and Canada. They are seeking a Project Manager to translate stakeholder requirements to the vendor and ensure alignment between stakeholder needs and technical feasibility. The role involves collaborating closely with internal and external partners to gather, analyze, and prioritize requirements for a standard PIMS.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (veterinary clinicians, practice managers, finance, IT teams) and external partners to help gather, analyze, and prioritize Vetcor’s requirements for a standard PIMS
- Act as the liaison to translate stakeholder requirements into clear and actionable information for the vendor
- Lead standard configuration discussions, ensuring alignment with Vetcor’s operational standards and industry best practices
- Assist in designing and implementing standard code sets, categories, groups, and their management processes within the PIMS framework to support effective monitoring and control
- Identify functional and non-functional gaps based on stakeholder input and current system capabilities and work with the vendor to develop a clear roadmap to close these gaps through system enhancements and process improvements
- Translate stakeholder requirements into clearly documented functional specifications and user stories to guide system selection, configuration, and migration efforts
- Collaborate with PIMS Implementation Manager to oversee testing, validation, and user training to ensure the PIMS meets established requirements
- Provide strong project governance by communicating progress, managing risks, and securing stakeholder buy-in throughout the initiative
- Recommend continuous improvement opportunities to evolve Vetcor’s PIMS standards post-implementation
Requirements:
- Project Management certification (PMP, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with data security, privacy, and system integration principles in healthcare/veterinary environments
- Experience leading stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering for IT or practice management systems, preferably in veterinary or healthcare contexts
- Skilled in documenting and prioritizing functional/non-functional requirements
- Proficiency with collaborative tools and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
- Knowledge or certification in Lean Six Sigma principles to drive process improvement and operational efficiency
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities to reconcile technical constraints with user needs
