Velsera is seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Product Management to lead their flagship Clinical Genomics Workbench (CGW). This role involves overseeing product strategy, market leadership, and team management to transition customers from the legacy CGW platform to the next-generation CGW+ environment.
Responsibilities:
- Product strategy and intelligent discovery
- Strategy ownership: Translate the CSPO's and CEO's mFacro-vision into a concrete, multi-quarter product strategy for CGW. You are responsible for identifying the "where to play (including market segments) and how to win" within the agnostic NGS landscape
- AI-augmented product discovery: Lead the shift from traditional "requirements-gathering" to a modern, AI-enhanced discovery model. You will leverage the latest AI approaches to synthesize customer, market and clinical data, fast-track hypothesis testing, and uncover latent customer needs before moving to development
- Innovation velocity: Drive innovation by identifying opportunities where machine learning and generative AI can automate interpretation bottlenecks, ensuring Velsera stays ahead of evolving NGS technologies
- Market Leadership: Ensure CGW remains the industry standard for agnostic NGS interpretation, maintaining high-fidelity reporting for our target customer base regardless of the upstream hardware and in light of increasing platform options for NGS interpretation
- Platform evolution & migration strategy
- Strategic migration framework: Own the overarching strategy for migrating customers from CGW to CGW+. You will focus on "Value Realization"- designing potentially required product enhancements that reduce migration friction and prove the ROI of the new platform
- Churn mitigation & retention: Partner with the General Manager and Customer Success team to identify at-risk accounts during the migration lifecycle, co-designing and implementing high-touch product strategies to course-correct before renewal cycles
- Operational transition: Guide the product team through the organizational transition, maintaining stability and focus while scaling the adoption of CGW+
- Market intelligence & industry research
- Continuous market research: Act as the internal expert on the genomics ecosystem, maintaining deep awareness of competitive moves, regulatory shifts (CAP/CLIA/IVDR), and trends in NGS testing as well as their implications
- Competitive landscaping: Conduct regular "head-to-head" analysis against industry peers to ensure our "agnostic" promise remains a distinct competitive advantage for our target customer segments and personas
- Feedback loops: Ensure market insights and direct customer feedback from the migration process directly inform the long-term product roadmap
- Global team leadership & empowerment
- Unified product culture: Manage and mentor a team of 3 Product Managers and 1 Designer based in India. Your primary mandate is to ensure the global team is integrated into the discovery process and feels ownership over product outcomes
- Mentorship & coaching: Raise the bar for product management excellence. You will coach your team on how to frame problems, test hypotheses, and use AI-driven insights to measure success through business impact rather than feature shipment
- Cross-functional synergy: Partner deeply with our clinical business unit General Manager, Commercial lead and Engineering to ensure product roadmap is commercially viable and technically feasible
- Business viability & stakeholder management
- Organizational Alignment: Act as the primary advocate for the CGW across the senior leadership team. You must effectively communicate the "why" behind product decisions and innovations to the CEO, broader executive team, as well as to the entire company
- Regulatory and clinical rigor: Work closely with Compliance/Regulatory and Legal to ensure that our "agnostic" promise and software implementations adhere to global regulatory standards (CAP/CLIA/IVDR)
- Outcome delivery: Define and track the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that matter - focusing on user adoption, reporting efficiency and customer retention
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D. preferred) in Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related Life Science field
- Deep technical understanding of the NGS workflow and variant interpretation
- 10+ years of experience in Product Management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing complex, data-heavy software platforms
- Demonstrated capability to apply modern AI approaches to accelerate product discovery, automate data analysis, or enhance software functionality within a clinical or scientific context
- Proven track record of managing and scaling distributed, international teams
- Demonstrated ability to build culture and drive alignment across different time zones
- A deep-seated belief in 'solving problems for customers' rather than 'building features for stakeholders'
- Exceptional ability to synthesize complex clinical and technical concepts into a clear, compelling narrative for both technical teams and executive leadership
