Redstone Manufacturing is hiring a Supplier Quality Manager to lead technical execution across our global manufacturing network. This role involves owning new product launches, driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM), developing supplier capability, and managing key accounts from a technical and operational standpoint.
Responsibilities:
- Lead new programs from PO through production release
- Conduct structured DFM reviews with foundries, CNC shops, and fabricators
- Identify manufacturing risk (tolerance stack-up, draft, gating, fixturing, heat treat, coatings)
- Oversee tooling development and validation
- Manage FAI, PPAP (when required), control plans, and production readiness
- Ensure clean transition into steady-state production
- Evaluate and qualify global suppliers (U.S., Mexico, India, Asia)
- Improve casting and machining process capability
- Drive corrective actions using structured root cause methodology (8D, 5 Why)
- Strengthen inspection strategies and process controls
- Raise supplier performance standards across quality and delivery
- Serve as primary technical contact for select strategic customers
- Lead regular engineering and operations calls
- Proactively manage production risk and quality performance
- Translate customer requirements into executable manufacturing plans
- Identify opportunities to expand scope within existing accounts
- Review drawings and GD&T for manufacturability
- Understand CT classes, process capability, casting tolerances
- Evaluate machining strategy and fixture approach
- Challenge unrealistic tolerances and reduce cost through design refinement
- Support quoting with real process validation insight
- Improve project tracking and launch discipline
- Reduce reactive firefighting
- Build repeatable NPI systems
- Mentor project and sourcing team members
- Create accountability without bureaucracy
Requirements:
- Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree
- 10+ years in metal manufacturing (casting, CNC machining, fabrication)
- Direct experience with NPI and supplier process development
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 environments
- Experience with FAI, PPAP, control plans, capability studies
- Comfortable leading technical discussions with OEM engineers
- Experience with iron castings, aluminum die casting, or precision machining
- Experience improving underperforming suppliers
- Experience supporting multi-site global production
