
Senior IT Security Analyst

The Senior Information Technology Security Analyst reports to the Director, Information Security Infrastructure; will assist with the management of a campus-wide information security program, concentrating on implementation and maintenance of network and infrastructure security posture by utilizing best practices and compliance with relevant information technology security standards, procedures, and regulations. Analyze traffic, system logs, and alerts, making recommendations to improve security posture and security system tool configurations. Participation in documenting processes and technology to ensure the security of all MTSU systems, data collected, stored, and transmitted by MTSU. Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of information security industry issues, alerts, and threats. Participate in departmental on-call rotation and perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or an IT-related field from a regionally accredited US educational institution.
Minimum (7) years progressively responsible full-time work experience as a security firewall administrator.
Experience configuring and administering Palo Alto firewalls or similar NGFW vendors. Experience with GlobalProtect or enterprise VPN solutions. Experience with network and security troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, nmap, Splunk, etc. Experience with other tools, such as MS Defender Security suite, MS Azure/Entra, Active Directory, DHCP, PowerShell, Visio, and one or more EDR/XDR tools. Hands-on experience managing NGFW configurations and policies in an enterprise environment.
CISSP, CCSP, CCNA, PCNSA, PCNSE, or other industry security certification preferred.
