Job Purpose: Lead - Geology (Hydro PSP) is responsible for leading comprehensive geological investigations, geotechnical risk management, and mapping initiatives, ensuring strategic integration of geological insights into Hydro PSP projects, while overseeing monitoring, environmental impact collaboration, and the management of geological data and documentation.
Geological Site Investigations:
Lead comprehensive geological site investigations to evaluate the suitability of potential locations for Hydro PSP development, overseeing the collection and analysis of geological data through advanced methods.
Supervise the development and implementation of site investigation plans, ensuring that all geological aspects are thoroughly evaluated & ensure that all investigations are conducted according to the highest industry standards, providing critical insights that inform strategic decision-making.
Geotechnical Risk Management:
Direct geotechnical risk management efforts by leading the identification, analysis, and mitigation of geological risks that could impact Hydro PSP projects & implement risk management strategies that address potential hazards such as landslides, seismic activity, and soil instability.
Ensure that all risk management activities are aligned with project objectives and regulatory requirements, providing leadership in the development of risk mitigation plans & collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that geological risks are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.
Geological Mapping and Modeling Initiatives:
Lead the creation of detailed geological maps and 3D models that provide critical insights into subsurface conditions, guiding the design and construction of Hydro PSP projects & oversee the interpretation of geological data to ensure that all mapping and modeling efforts are accurate and informative.
Ensure that all geological maps and models are regularly updated based on new data and findings, maintaining their relevance throughout the project & provide strategic direction in the development of geological models that predict the behaviour of rock and soil formations under various conditions.
Geological Monitoring and Reporting:
Oversee the monitoring of geological conditions during the construction and operation phases of Hydro PSP projects, ensuring that any changes are promptly identified and addressed & monitor detailed geological reports that provide actionable insights for maintaining structural stability and safety.
Ensure that all geological monitoring activities are integrated into project operations, providing real-time feedback to construction teams & lead the implementation of corrective actions based on geological findings, ensuring the ongoing safety and success of the project.
Guiding Environmental Impact Collaboration:
Provide leadership in the collaboration with environmental teams to integrate geological expertise into Environmental Impact Assessments for Hydro PSP projects while overseeing the analysis of geological impacts on environmental factors such as water resources, erosion patterns, and habitat disruption.
Ensure that all geological aspects of the EIA are thoroughly evaluated and documented, supporting the development of sustainable and compliant project plans & lead the development of mitigation strategies that address potential geological impacts, ensuring that all recommendations are grounded in sound geological principles.
Geological Data and Documentation:
Lead the management of geological databases and documentation, ensuring that all data is accurately recorded, organized, and accessible for future use & oversee the development of data management systems that enhance the efficiency and reliability of geological record-keeping.
Ensure that all geological documentation is regularly updated and maintained, supporting ongoing research and project development efforts & use the data for decision-making, ensuring that all relevant information is available to stakeholders at all times.

Educational Qualifications:
B.Tech and Master’s Degree in Hydrology or Geotechnical Engineering/ BSC ( Geology)
Certifications such as Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) and Post Graduate Diploma in Geotechnical Engineering from recognized Indian institutions are advantageous.
Work Experience:
12+ years in Geological Engineering Projects with Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector, is crucial for understanding the geological challenges of hydro pumped storage systems.
Experience in Hydropower or Water Resource Projects:
Direct involvement in the geological assessment, planning, and construction of hydropower facilities is highly valued, ensuring familiarity with industry-specific challenges and solutions.
